I picked up fly fishing as a summer hobby a couple years ago. I figured I'd learn how to cast, tie a fly, read a river. Instead, I learned way more about myself than I ever did about fishing.

Episode 5: Robyn -
She Healed Her Chronic Migraines With Nature

In this episode of the As I, A Peer Podcast, I’m taking you along for a mental health walk through the breathtaking Alder Loop and Banded Peak trails in Bragg Creek, just outside of Calgary, Alberta. Joining me is Robyn, the co-owner of Banff Wilderness, a local outdoor adventure hike company.

Robyn opens up about her intense battle with chronic migraines—experiencing them up to 24 days a month, complete with terrifying aura vision loss.

She shares the fascinating science of how the brain learns pain pathways, and how she completely shifted her reality. By spending hours sitting in the quiet woods, practicing deep meditative breathing, and reassuring her nervous system that she wasn't in danger, she managed to break the pain loop.
