This Teacher’s View on Art and Self-Care Will Change How You See Both

At Park(ing) Day, I met Brad, a lifelong teacher who’s spent decades exploring what it really means to learn, grow, and take care of yourself.

He told me something that stuck: “Teaching is an art.”
And the more he talked, the more I realized he wasn’t just talking about the classroom.
He was talking about life and how the process of showing up, being curious, and getting uncomfortable might be the most creative act of all.

Check out the whole interview here:

In this interview, you’ll hear:

  • Why Brad believes teaching and art share the same open-hearted curiosity.
  • How “hard fun” (the kind that stretches you) can actually restore you.
  • Why community matters when you don’t have the energy to carry yourself.
